Aces High or Low?

Thursday, August 4, 2005
If this isn’t a great example of power corrupting, I don’t know what is: see this Reuters report on an encomium to leader Kim Jong-Il on a North Korean website. Among Kim’s remarkable talents is his accomplishment of a “feat unmatched in the annals of professional golf by shooting 11 holes-in-one on the first round he ever played.”

Update: He did it with one arm tied behind his back and blindfolded, while chewing gum. What a guy!

  1. John Conlin says:

It is a sad world where crazed tyrants like Kim Jong-Il remain in power. Forgetting the degree of his lies, they would be funny if it wasn’t so sick; it is unconscionable and morally bankrupt for the free nations of the world to continue providing aid to crazed tyrants like this around the world. This aid simply helps keep these thugs in place. These dictators are nothing but pirates who have seized the power of the government. They have no standing and the free world should not deal with them in any way. The free world must demand that in exchange for joining the modern world, all recognized governments must truly represent the freewill of the citizens of that country, namely be elected in free and honest elections. There will be those who bleat about how this isn’t possible in the “real” world. Tell that to the millions who are starving in the hell-hole that is North Korea.
