Disappointing - Discussing aspects of Our Lord’s choice to reflect on facets of the ‘natural world’ in his parables could have been an enthralling exercise - tying entrepreneurial “fecundity” and wealth creation to our vocation to be stewards going forth and multiplying in a culture of life, but this lecture wasn’t it. (consider “Factor Four: Doubling Wealth, Halving Resource Use - A Report to the Club of Rome” by Ernst U.von Weizsacker and Mr and Mrs Lovins, not published in the US yet) By glibly dismissing the gentlewoman’s query about “insider trading” Fr. Sirico missed an opportunity to provide real value. IMHO tort reform is a misguided attempt to address symptoms not the illness: class action law suits are the inevitable consequence of the need to defend personal interests by freedom of association against the ‘un-natural world’ of legal “personhood” of corporate entities, incidentally the same rights denied to human persons inside the womb. And now I’m off to mass - Ascension Thursday.
